Internet Explorer has had a great year in 2011, Microsoft says. To celebrate this, the company has decided to bring joy in the hearts of children this holiday season, and has partnered with Starlight Children’s Foundation.

There are many children who cannot enjoy the holiday season the same way that most of us can, and Internet Explorer is set to change that.

“This has been a great year for Internet Explorer. For those of us on the IE team we are extremely thankful for the opportunity to work on such a great product with such a fantastic team,” Ryan Gavin, General Manager, Internet Explorer Business and Marketing, notes in a blog post.

“We are also incredibly thankful for the opportunity we had to give back to children in need this holiday season by partnering with the Starlight Children’s Foundation.”

This entity is focused on offering a reason to smile to children and families who will have to spend the holidays in hospitals due to treatments and the need of permanent medical attention.

IE team and Starlight Children’s Foundation's initiative will provide a helping hand to kids unable to enjoy the holidays season the same as we can due to illness.

“Because of this, we teamed up with Starlight Children’s Foundation, to try and give back and make the season merrier for those kids and families that must spend the holidays in the hospital,” Gavin explains.

“Starlight Children's Foundation works with area hospitals to provide children and families a little levity from the constant barrage of treatments and medical attention. “

During the holiday season, the Foundation is working on offering gifts and events to these people. Otherwise, they would not be able to celebrate, due either to financial burdens, treatments or other reasons.

Microsoft worked with Steve McGraw, Executive Director, Starlight Children's Foundation, Northwest Chapter, on this, and gathered toys for children.

The IE team even bothered to wrap these gifts and prepare some donations. There is even a video – embedded below – to offer a glimpse at how these preparations went.

“We hope this blog shines a light on the hardships children and families face during the holiday season, and we encourage you to explore Starlight Foundation’s website and look for ways you can help,” Gavin concludes.
