Microsoft is now celebrating the first anniversary of The Browser You Loved to Hate campaign but, in the meantime, Internet Explorer has serious problems in the fight against Google Chrome for the supremacy of this particular industry sector.

Statistics provided by StatCounter for this week, for example, reveal that Chrome 25 is currently the top choice worldwide with a market share of 32.97 percent, closely followed by IE 9.0 with 16.1 percent. Firefox 19 comes third with 15.29 percent, while IE 8.0 is fourth with 11.3 percent.

Overall, Chrome owns no less than 36.91 percent of the market, while Internet Explorer is installed only on 30.76 percent of the computers connected to the Internet.

If you ask the analysts at Net Applications, on the other hand, Internet Explorer is the dominating software in the browser market, with a share of 55.82 percent, while Google Chrome is only third with 16.27 percent.

In the end, it’s just a matter of choice for all users out there, even though benchmarks are always showing that one browser is faster and more stable than the other.
