Mozilla Firefox's decreases to 11.69%

The global usage share of Internet Explorer 7 has grown to 10.97% since the Microsoft browser was released on October 18, 2006. According to OneStat, the total worldwide usage share of Internet Explorer is 85.81%.

Microsoft has announced recently that as of January 8, 2007, Internet Explorer 7 has passed over the 100 million installation milestone. Microsoft has begun distributing the browser via Automatic Updates following its release at the rate of 1 million IE7 updates per day. In this context, OneStat has reported that Internet Explorer 7 has grown over 7.91% since November 2006.

Mozilla Firefox is the runner up with 11.69% global usage share. "Mozilla Firefox 2.0 has a global usage share of 4.83 percent. The total global usage share of Mozilla Firefox decreased 0.46 percent since November 2006," informed OneStat.

However, Microsoft's global dominance on the browser market does not illustrate the browser's performance on home soil. In the US, IE accounts for a global usage share of 78.13%, while Mozilla has 16.11%. Additionally, OneStat has published data revealing the market position of Internet Explorer and Firefox across select European countries, Canada and Australia.

In January 2007, in Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy, Belgium, Netherlands, IE's usage share was 65.71%, 79.00%, 86.72%, 69.47%, 83.29%, 79.48%, 80.92% and respectively 88.66%.

On the same global markets, Firefox's usage share is 26.68%, 14.13%, 10.86%, 25.66%, 13.53%, 15.89%, 15.38% and 9.41%. According to OneStat, Internet Explorer has increased its global usage share compared to November 2006, while Firefox has experienced a decrease in popularity.
