14 DAY TRIAL // One of the upcoming devices that will run under Google's Android operating system is a 7 Inch Internet tablet from ICD. The Android-based tablet definitely has the looks, and it also comes around with some appealing specifications, including the Android 2.1 flavor of the mobile platform. The guys over at Engadget grabbed one of these and posted a series of hands-on photos with it, images that can be viewed at the bottom of this article.
When it comes to the specifications list of the device, we can count a 1GHz Tegra T20 CPU, coupled with 512MB of RAM and 512MB of ROM, as well as 4GB of Hardwired Storage, not to mention a microSD memory card slot for additional memory space to be added to the equation. With USB 2.0, Bluetooth 2.1 and Wi-Fi connectivity options, as well as support for 2G and 3G frequencies, this little piece of hardware seems to be able to deliver them all.
At the same time, we should also mention that the tablet is said to come to the market with a 1.3-megapixel front-facing photo snapper, with accelerometer and ambient light sensor, as well as with a 3.5mm headphone jack and HDMI output, so all for the better, especially with that Android OS 2.1 (Flan) on board. The price tag for the device is said to have been set at $249, though it is yet unofficial and also unconfirmed, it seems.
Here's what Engadget has to say about the ICD Ultra Internet tablet: “The version we had a chance to play with -- a prototype running Android 2.0 -- was blazingly fast when it came to 1080p playback and web browsing (as you can see in the video below), but was pretty incomplete as far as the rest of the software was concerned (though the company says they're working on optimizing the experience all around).” Take a look at the photos and video below, or head here for the entire gallery, and watch this space for further updates on the matter.
