IBM and Akamai have announced a new partnership as a result of which Akamai’s Kona Site Defender will be integrated with IBM’s Cloud Security Services offering.

“Our clients tell us there is a need to strengthen cloud security. The partnership with Akamai combines a world-class security team and an intelligent network platform to strengthen cloud security,” noted IBM Security Services General Manager Kris Lovejoy.

“Together with Akamai, IBM can provide both proactive and reactive DDoS protection from the increasing frequency, scale and sophistication of these attacks.”

As part of this partnership, the companies will also share security intelligence focusing on threat detection, security risk identification and remediation. In addition, IBM’s X-FORCE will contribute to Akamai’s global analytics capabilities.

This will enable customers to benefit from a DDOS protection offer that includes preparation, mitigation, monitoring, response and intelligence.
