Kim Kardashian married Kris Humphries in August last year, and decided, just 72 days later, that the relationship wasn't working anymore. The other night on Jay Leno, the reality star further stressed that divorce was never on her mind at the time she accepted Kris' proposal.

Fans who have turned on Kim after her divorce announcement said that this had been her plan all along: marry Humphries for money (and a boost in ratings) and divorce him before the ink on the certificate had dried.

Not true, she says during the latest interview, part of which you can also see embedded in the video below.

If anything, Kim would describe herself as a hopeless romantic, one that doesn't listen to warnings, even if they come from her loved ones – not if she's truly in love.

However, when she realized that her romance with Kris wasn't going to work out, she did the correct thing by all, and ended it.

This is what happened, this is what went wrong in the marriage, she explains.

“I'm a girl who really believes in love, I'm in love with love and I thought this was it for me. But when I realized it wasn't I thought... I've always tried to really respectful of everyone involved,” the reality star says.

“I wanted to be fair to me, but I also wanted to be fair to someone else. So when I knew it wasn't right...” Kim explains.

“I've heard stories of people who were married for 10 years and they knew it wasn't right, but they wanted to stick it out and had kids,” she continues.

Her second failed marriage hasn't made her lose hope in love either, she remains the same romantic as always.

“I want that forever, I believed in love, I still do. But to be fair to everyone, I knew I had to end it and I'm OK with that decision,” Kim says.

In the same interview, the reality star explains that her family had tried to warn her she was rushing into things by getting married after 8 months together, but she insists she was past saving at that point, because she was in love and blind and deaf.
