Adam Lambert, America’s most beloved male pop artist of 2009 as far as album sales are concerned, is now in the UK, promoting his debut material, the critically and commercially acclaimed “For Your Entertainment.” Though it comes as little of a surprise, the singer admits that he’s a perfectionist and that, of all people, he’s the hardest on himself, as MTV UK can confirm.

Then again, therein lies the key to evolution and improvement, Adam believes, which is something with which few could actually disagree. If he weren’t so hard on himself, if he didn’t constantly strive to be the best and to give it all he can, he would suddenly just become blasé, just wake up one day and feel absolutely no need to move forward. Luckily, he’s not – and it’s precisely because of these than fans can always count on him to deliver surprising, one of a kind performances.

“I am so hard on myself. If you were on the outside looking into my head you would probably be shocked. I’m a perfectionist and I get so frustrated with myself when it’s not perfect. But I think it’s a good thing. My expectations for myself are so high that when I go on stage I have to try to live up to these expectations and that probably creates a stronger performance. If I were lazy and didn’t care as much it’d probably be mediocre stuff I was doing,” Adam says, as cited by the aforementioned music publication.

As fans know by now, if there’s one thing that Adam doesn’t do, that’s mediocre. The singer, who rose to national fame after his stint on American Idol last year, where he came out second, is now one of the most beloved and bankable active artists. One of the things that constantly draw fans to him, critics say, is his ability to put on ever-original performances, which makes it so that not one song by Adam sounds the same as the version on the album. That and, of course, talent and good looks.

Fans will get to see just how much of a perfectionist Adam is when he kicks off his Glam Nation Tour, his first solo effort since the American Idol tour. The tour stars on May 22 in Mansfield, MA, Comcast Center, and ends on August 13 in Bethlehem, PA, Musikfest.
