As much as he wants to stay out of the spotlight, Christian Bale seems to be constantly showered with unwanted attention. Whether it’s for getting a bit too verbally harsh with his own family or with crew members, the media appears to be unable to stop paying attention to the little things that make him scandalously delicious as a star. And it’s precisely this that upsets him the most, Bale is now saying in a new interview with USA Today.

Christian Bale knows that a world without gossip does not exist. Moreover, he understands the media and fans’ need to know details of his personal life, and even to dwell on them when the time to do so has already run out. But not a single day goes by without him secretly thinking he could wake up one day and people would pay attention only to his movies and the performances he puts in them, Bale reveals in the latest interview.

Still, making excuses for either of the two highly-mediated occurrences would be useless at this point. For starters, Bale admits, he doesn’t want to excuse himself with the fans, even if they might be disappointed by him doing so, because they should support and appreciate him on his work alone. Secondly, he’s not the kind to further dissect a thing that has gotten too much media attention as it is, says the actor. The only thing left for him to do was to hang in there, hoping that this would eventually go away and his privacy would have little to suffer from it.

“I just hope it will go away, after a little bit of time. I hope I’m not naïve in thinking that’s possible. I don’t want to be a part of it. I can’t seem to navigate a way of doing that, of actually telling the truth of events that happened without feeling I’m encouraging the whole gossip notion.” Christian Bale says quietly and with much calm about having to make some sort of stand as regards his controversial and obscenity-laden outburst on the set of “Terminator: Salvation.”

“Much as I say I try to ignore it, I can’t help but feel disturbed by the complete lack of desire by most people to actually look into the details and find out the truth. Maybe that’s partly me, because I don’t divulge it. I don’t talk about the truth of the incident.” the actor says, insisting his privacy has and will always come first no matter what. “I have a principle that privacy is privacy, no matter if people are telling me, ‘Hey, you really should say something.’ … I’ve got a lot of people telling me I’m doing the wrong thing. But I feel I have to stick to what I believe.” Bale also reveals.
