One of the hottest actresses on the scene right now is relative newcomer Jennifer Lawrence. After starring in a string of critical and box office hits, she's about to become leading lady material with “The Hunger Games” – but she has other, more important issues to talk about.

Featured in the latest issue of Seventeen to promote the film, which is believed to be en route to becoming a movie event like “Twilight,” Jennifer takes the time to draw attention to a very important issue.

Girls should never put their health at risk just because they feel they must attain some ideal of beauty that is both ridiculous and risky, she says.

The actress, who got her start in the critically acclaimed “Winter's Bone,” recalls a time when all her mates in high school would think having an eating disorder was just about the coolest thing they could do.

It's not right and it's not healthy, she says.

“I’m just so sick of these young girls with diets. I remember when I was 13 and it was cool to pretend to have an eating disorder because there were rumors that Lindsay Lohan and Nicole Richie were anorexic,” the actress says.

“I thought it was crazy. I went home and told my mom, 'Nobody’s eating bread – I just had to finish everyone’s burgers.' I think it’s really important for girls to have people to look up to and to feel good about themselves,” she explains.

Jennifer tackled the problem without even realizing it, by keeping active.

She says she was raised near a farm where they had horses, so she was always running to and fro for a a chance to ride one.

Plus, she was a tomboy, so that meant she was always out, keeping busy.

“Growing up, I lived 15 minutes away from a horse farm, and I went there almost every day. My brothers were into fishing, but I was all about the horses,” she explains.

In the same interview, Jennifer also talks a bit about her handsome “The Hunger Games” co-stars, Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth, and whether she believes the film will be a hit with fans of the book.
