Late last year, TV icon Valerie Harper was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer, with doctors telling her she had 3 more months to live. She talked about that death sentence in a new interview with Savannah Guthrie.

“I’m not dying until I do,” Valerie says in the interview, as I informed you yesterday. More footage has been released online, and you can see it below.

“It has been so warming and so comforting and… I feel the embrace. It feels awful damn good to be open about it, face it and see what you can do,” the star says about fans’ reaction to her diagnosis.

Her message is that life should not be over just because doctors have put a deadline on hers.

“Forgiving is giving up the wish that things could have been different. They weren’t. That’s the past. Let it go. I have cancer. It’s in my brain…. What are you gonna do about it?” she asks.

“I’ve had such a great run, Savannah. I’m going on 74. I want people to be less afraid. You know, that’s… that’s really I guess why I’m sharing it,” she adds.

A touching story, fit for such a brave, gorgeous and talented woman.
