She’s now considered one of the most beautiful women in the world and, at the same time, she’s among the highest ranking models for Victoria’s Secret. Still, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley recalls a time when she was told to lose weight if she wanted to be a model. Rosie is now heavily promoting Michael Bay’s upcoming (and last, presumably) “Transformers” film, “The Dark of the Moon,” in which she takes over from Megan Fox, who was fired from the franchise some time ago.
As such, she’s everywhere these days, from
Complex to Elle Magazine – and that’s just the beginning.
Speaking with
Elle UK, Rosie recalls her beginning in the fashion industry and how she was bluntly told she needed to shift some pounds if she wanted to stand a proper chance.
No one seemed to care about her age or the fact that she was simply carrying some baby fat, which was completely natural, she stresses.
“When I started modeling, I was definitely heavier. I was quite voluptuous in fact. I had a real baby face and baby fat,” the stunner says.
She didn’t give in to pressure though.
“But I was a baby! I was told I had to get into better shape, but I’m quite stubborn so I didn’t,” Rosie says.
Still, those comments on her body upset her a lot, especially since they put her in a position in which she had to defend herself – and try to make other see that they were wrong.
“I can’t remember a time where I really battled with my body, but I can remember being asked to lose weight and battling with the advice. It hurt me. Especially as my baby fat naturally melted away as I got older,” she says.
Now, there’s hardly an ounce of fat on Rosie’s body, but it’s not because she’s straining herself to be like that. Just recently, for instance, she became a huge fan of working out because it helps her deal with the physical challenges of a model’s life.
“I don’t just work out to stay slim, I work out because it takes a lot to be on a plane and be jet-lagged all the time. Same with being on a film set for months. It’s important your body is strong and toned and can take that battering,” she tells the mag.
