Fans of Kanye West must already be accustomed to the very unique way the rapper has of always speaking his mind. By all accounts, he is not the man to shy away from a little controversy, or speak about himself for that matter. In his most recent interview, Kanye adds another jewel to his crown by saying he is “God’s vessel” and the greatest performer there has ever been.

While on VH1’s “Storytellers,” Kanye has revealed that he sees himself as more than just a simple musician. As per his own admission, he is the closest thing to God there is, as he is the musical chosen one. “God chose me. He made a path for me. I am God’s vessel.” the rapper tells about his “mission” on earth. But this does come at a price, namely living with the regret of never being able to see himself perform live. “But my greatest pain in life is that I will never be able to see myself perform live.” Kanye points out on the same occasion.

The singer’s massive ego has been subject to much debate, as to whether he is in any position to utter such “absolute truths” on the record. While the rapper swerves from getting into it, he does admit to have an ego issue – but a justified one nonetheless. Not only does he have the best reasons to be proud of who he is and how much he has accomplished so far, but he’s also harming no one with that much talk about his own person, Kanye explains.

“I do have an ego and rightfully so. I think people should have an ego. Think about it – I don’t offend people, I don’t put anyone down. Do I name names or bring people down? That’s not my thing. But I give myself big-ups. I feel good about the music I make.” Kanye shares. Come to think of it, what with all the feuds that are tearing the music industry (and showbiz in general) apart, Kanye West is one of the very few who never pick on someone else to get their 15 minutes in the spotlight, it has been underlined.

Speaking of ego, just recently, Kanye has also told Details magazine that he was the “end-all, be-all of music,” a superhero, and a boundary-breaking icon. “One of the problems with being a bubbling source of creativity – it’s like I’m bubbling in a laboratory, and if you don’t put a cap on it, at one point it will, like, break the glass. If I can hone that… then I have, like, nuclear power, like a superhero, like Cyclops when he puts his glasses on.” Kanye West maintained.
