In addition to slow refresh rates, the other main cause behind eye strain and general tiredness caused by monitors stems from the intensity of the blue light. I-O Data has just launched a monitor that can reduce its intensity.

Called LCD-AD203E, it is a 20-inch display with a resolution of 1600 x 900 pixels, a response time of 5ms, a contrast ratio of 1,000:1, two 1W speakers and two video inputs (D-Sub and DVI).

In other words, it would be a totally ordinary monitor if it didn't have blue light adjustment (of up to 60% intensity reduction, in case you're wondering).

Red, green and blue colors are combined to render images on screens. Before, it was impossible to reduce the intensity of any of them without affecting the color saturation, but the impact on image quality and sharpness has lessened enough for blue light reduction tech to gain popularity.

The I-O Data LCD-AD203E has a price of ¥18,400 / $180 / €132.
