They are colored black, silver or "Bordeaux" and use USB 3.0

Many portable HDDs released over the past few weeks were wireless ones, but I-O Data is helping things settle back into normality with its two latest USB 3.0 storage devices.

Called HDPC-UT2.0 and HDPF-UT2.0, they are set apart only by their coloring.

The former come in black, silver or “Bordeaux” red, with a different tone on the underside, while the latter have the same color on the top and on the underside but a different hue on the middle of the “frame.”

Other than that, they are identical, from the size of 76 x 113 x 14 mm / 3 x 4.44 x 0.55 inches to the weight of 180 grams / 0.39 pounds.

The newcomers use the USB 3.0 interface standard to move data to and from a Windows personal computer or Apple Mac system.

Speaking of which, they're pre-formatted in the NTFS file system and ship with a software that lets Macs access the data on it (normally, Mac OS can't read NTFS).

Sadly, the prices are unknown, and we probably won't learn of them until later this month (May 2014). At least the 2 TB capacity is a good enough incentive to keep an eye out.
