I-O Data's HDPC-U collection of portable hard disk drives may not be an entirely new one, but it seems that some new members have now been added to its ranks, all of them with the same capacity.

Normally, when increasing the number of products available in a storage solutions line, companies usually give their new creations differing capacities.

This once, however, I-O Data decided that it was more important to ensure that its series calls to as many users as possible.

On that note, since the outer appearance of any external and/or portable storage drive is essential in determining what consumers it appeals to, I-O Data went for three different colors.

In other words, the HDPC-U series of portable hard disk drives has welcomed the addition of three units colored Pearl White, Brown and Piano Black, respectively.

With this to ensure a sense of style, I-O Data went ahead and also gave the casings a scratch-resistant finish, an essential feature for products that are sure to change hands and get moved from place to place frequently. What's more, there is a rubber slip on the rear.

As far as the hardware itself goes, there is an internal storage capacity of 750 GB, as well as the USB 2.0 interface.

As one would surely expect, said interface is backwards compatible with USB 1.1 ports and should deliver decent transfer rates.

All the above is packed inside a frame measuring 75 (W) x 112 (D) x 14 (H) mm and weighing 160 grams.

Unfortunately, while they have been officially added to their maker's portfolio, they have, so far, only become available for purchase in Japan.

Their price of the 750GB I-O Data HDPC-U is the rough equivalent of $165. Any and all details that currently available on the whole lineup may be found here.
