14 DAY TRIAL // Since her big onscreen debut, “Slumdog Millionaire,” went on to bag all awards in major categories, from BAFTAs to the Oscars, Freida Pinto has been literally covered in offers, and not only from movie studios. Just now branching out in an industry that is more than happy to welcome her, the beautiful actress still finds herself in shock as to how popular she has become, as she reveals in a new Daily Mail interview.
Of course, Freida never even dared to dream that one day will come when she’ll be immensely famous, with studio bosses getting into bidding wars for her involvement in various project, and her beauty contracts being so generous that she could easily live off them alone. However, what surprises the young actress more is, as per her own admission, how warmly she’s been received in the glitzy Hollywood world – and how fortunate she was to even be given this chance.
“I had no idea ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ would become such a huge success. In fact, when we were filming, none of us expected it, so the feeling of surprise and shock is still with me. The film won eight Oscars and I was nominated for Best Supporting actress at the Baftas, and now, when I look back at photographs in magazines of me at the film awards I can still hardly believe it’s me. It’s like, ‘Was I really at the Baftas and the Oscars?’ It’s surreal. I found it all a bit overwhelming at first, but now I’m determined to make the most of it. I don’t want to look back in ten years and think that I missed out.” Freida says for the British publication.
As a matter of fact, this is precisely what Angelina Jolie urged her to do. The two met, Pinto reveals, at the Oscars ceremony, and Jolie was more than kind to the star-struck Freida, the actress recalls. “And meeting Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie at the Oscars - I mean, come on, they’re pretty much the most famous couple in the world. I was a bit shell-shocked by Angelina. She told me to enjoy the moment and make the most of it all, as you never know when it might happen again.” Freida says.
Still, Freida can’t say that, as shocked as she is by her almost overnight success, she’s not happy with it. Quite understandably, the actress is now shooting movies “all over the world,” as she puts it, and she’s thoroughly enjoying it. The invasion of privacy on behalf of the media is one issue the gorgeous star still has to learn to deal with but, other than that, Freida Pinto is riding the wave of her good fortune – and making sure she has no regrets about it.
