When word first got out of a possible romance between Taylor Swift and Jake Gyllenhaal, few could imagine how they may have met. As it turns out, Gwyneth Paltrow played an important part in their blossoming romance.
This report is not new, since it first grabbed headlines in the US tabs a couple of weeks ago. Now, Gwyneth is saying that, at the time, she was afraid to confirm it lest it put a damper on
the romance.
Yet it's true, she admits in a recent interview cited by
Us Magazine. The two had met before she came into the picture, but it was at the private dinner party she threw for them that they really bonded.
Jake, as fans must know, is a close friend of Gwyneth; they've been so since starring together in 2005's “Proof,” while Taylor Swift is an acquaintance of her husband, Chris Martin of Coldplay.
Therefore, it wasn't hard for Paltrow to bring the two together when she heard they'd taken
a fancy for each other.
“As Us Weekly was the first to report, Paltrow, 38, hosted a private dinner party for the pair during Swift and Gyllenhaal's secretive trip to London on November 13,” the mag writes.
“Jake and Taylor were driven from the Dorchester hotel to Gwyneth and Chris Martin's house in Primrose Hill for dinner. Gwyneth seems to have played a role in their relationship,” a source confirms for Us.
USA Today also asked Gwyneth about it and she initially tried to downplay her role in the romance, saying she was “scared to say” more than what was already out there.
“Where is this coming from? It's so weird. I wonder how people find out these things,” the actress told the USA Today reporter, as cited by Us.
“It was a while ago, so I don't know why it would come out today. I've just known Jake for a long time and he's a great guy, and Chris has a friendship with Taylor,” Gwyneth added, confirming her involvement in getting the two together.
