It would be surprising if there were a single parent out there that was not worried for his/her child's safety. Now, parents have the opportunity to equip their kids with the I-Kids mobile device, which combines both the functions you would normally find in a mobile phone and a GPS device, with the single purpose of keeping kids safe. Just like a normal mobile phone, it can be used for calling, but does not authorize the child to send text messages or initiate calls to any other numbers except for the 4 pre-set numbers that are authorized by their parents. As for GPS features, parents can use an application on their own mobile phones that will establish the location of their child, within 10 to 20 meters, in a couple of seconds. Even if the mobile phone is switched off, the GPS tracker function will still work. To make this even more useful, the device can also be programmed to send an alert in the case that the child leaves certain areas, set by their parents as safety zones. I-Kids also features a one touch emergency button. When that button is pressed, the phone will dial four numbers in sequence until someone answers the call, and in the situation that the call isn't answered, the call will be routed to I-Kids' service desk. Therefore, if your kids need any help, they will surely reach someone who can offer help. This small handheld might prove to be a great Christmas present for kids and will probably make the parents happy as well. It is available in two color combinations, metallic violet/lime and blue steel/azure and can be purchased for a price of �100 with a monthly subscription plus a �15.75 monthly fee.
