At just 16, Disney’s IT girl Miley Cyrus is one of the biggest stars of her generation. Her music and her acting have won her a very loyal fanbase, but so has her honest, outspoken approach to almost any topic. One such topic is her weight, which is also just one of the many things she does not plan to change only to fit industry’s standards. However, that does not mean that she does not feel pressured into losing the pounds, as she admits in her latest interview with Glamour magazine.

Miley has spoken out before on her weight, saying that she would rather be healthy than skinny and, in doing so, virtually opening the door for other female stars to talk about body image in Hollywood. This time is no different either, as the teen star admits that, despite her age, people constantly pressure her into losing weight, somehow being oblivious to the fact that, at 16, she’s still growing.

“One thing that bugs me is people who say, ‘Miley really needs to lose some weight.’” the singer / songwriter / actress tells the magazine, adding that another thing that really annoys her is when individuals claim that she has had breast-enlargement surgery. Before opening their mouth and speaking, Miley suggests, they should first think that she was skinnier before because she was younger, having started working in the industry at the tender age of 12. “I’m like, ‘What are you talking about – let me grow.’” Miley adds.

The last time the star spoke about her weight-related issues, she mentioned that she too often felt insecure about her body, just like any other girl her age. However, when she was diagnosed with tachycardia, she made a choice of staying healthy, even if that meant being a few pounds heavier than the other Hollywood women out there. In the end, she said at the time, being healthy was all that was important in one’s life and she wasn’t going to sacrifice that just so that tabloids would stop talking about her weight.

“I’ve struggled with my weight, but when I found out I had a hole in my heart – there was no way in heck being skinny was worth sacrificing my health. Like lots of girls my age, I can be self-conscious about my looks, but it was clear to me that I’d much rather be healthy and normal sized.” Miley explained.
