She’s gorgeous, she’s talented and, right now, she’s one of the richest actresses of her age. Speaking with the latest issue of Elle magazine, Emma Watson opens up about personal insecurities, beauty and the need to fitting the mold.As far as that last part goes, fans can rest assured, because Emma declares she doesn’t want and has no intention of going out of her way to look just like every other Hollywood star out there.
Nevertheless, that’s not to say that she doesn’t feel lots of pressure to fit in – she just refuses to give in to it.
“I do worry about the expectation to look a certain way,” Emma tells the magazine.
Living in Los Angeles only makes matters worse, because she constantly has other women she’s compared to and she’s made to feel as if she doesn’t rise to the standard.
“I find LA quite scary because of that – all those young people having plastic surgery. But the thing is, I don’t want to look like everyone else,” Watson says.
“I don’t have perfect teeth, I’m not stick thin. I want to be the person who feels great in her body and can say that she loves it and doesn’t want to change anything,” she adds.
Whenever girls are presented with the image of the “perfect” woman, they don’t even realize that they’re looking at an unrealistic image and that they have to compromise part of themselves to look like that.
“It’s ridiculous that seems such an unrealistic goal. I think the actresses who are really successful are the ones who are comfortable in their own skins and still look human,” Emma explains.
And all she wants to do is act and prove she’s not a typical child star who is about to go “off the rails” the moment they’re set free into the world – and Hollywood in particular.
