I Don't Believe in Soulmates, Says Vanessa Paradis

As speculation about the state of her relationship with Johnny Depp is reaching a peak, Vanessa Paradis makes room for more rumors, even though unwillingly. In a recent interview, she says she doesn't believe in soulmates.

Vanessa is now promoting her latest film, “Cafe de Flore,” and, while her comments on love and soul mates were made in the context of the plot of the film, they're being interpreted as taken from her personal life.

Marie Claire, for one, surely believes that Vanessa is indirectly speaking about Johnny when she says she's not a believer in marriage because she doesn't think soulmates exist, other than as a purely romantic, idealist notion.

“If you lose your soulmate everything is done for,” she says of why she doesn't believe in the concept that one person is only made for another – and no one else.

“Cafe De Flore speaks of love, its joys, its pains and its dramas – to love and to lose. This story upset me, I was upside-down, in the depths of myself,” the model, singer and actress further says.

“The idea of a soulmate is beautiful and very romantic to talk about it in a movie or a song, but in reality, I find it scary,” she adds.

Neither she nor Johnny has yet addressed ongoing rumors on how their nearly 14-year love story has lived to see its final day.

As we also reported last week, word online has it that the two are living separately, and have done so for approximately one year now.

Sources close to the usually very private couple tell the glossies and other celebrity publications (People magazine included) that they are “all but officially over” and that an announcement will come shortly after they settle all the details of the breakup.

Admittedly, Johnny has already talked to his attorneys about it – even though they never married, they have many assets in common, not to mention their children to think of.
