Officials have announced that Interstate 40 in Tennessee is now reopened, after closing down over a deadly church bus crash yesterday.

The I-40 was reopened early on Thursday, WATE reported. It took 15 hours to clear and examine the scene after a bus slammed into a semi-truck and a smaller vehicle.

The bus driver survived the incident, but the other motorists succumbed to their injuries. Six elderly passengers on the bus also lost their lives in the horrific collision. Fifteen other people have been injured and are recovering.

All lanes of Interstate 40 are now open, while the results of the investigation regarding the collision are pending.

So far, reports have shown that the bus had blown its front left tire before smashing through a median barricade and into the truck.

The third vehicle involved in the accident was an SUV pulling a boat trailer. The bus flipped over to its side and the truck caught ablaze.
