The development team at Omega Force and Team Ninja and pubisher Tecmo Koei have surprised players who are aiming to pick up the new Hyrule Warriors by announcing that the video game will allow them to play as Ganondorf, who is the ultimate adversary of main hero Link and one of the evil forces that want to control the Triforce.

The creature is also known as the Dark Lord and the Great King of Evil, and he wants to conquer the entire world of The Legend of Zelda, using the Triforce to gain access to the knowledge that would allow him to be more powerful than the forces of good.

Hyrule Warriors will have combat mechanics taken from Dynasty Warriors, and Ganondorf will be one powerful force on the battlefield, able to take hundreds of enemies out with his special powers.

The developers working on the game are also announcing that the Adventure Mode included in their title will have a grid of challenges modeled on the NES version of The Legend of Zelda and will allow gamers to unlock new regions of the game as they complete the various levels.

A number of characters and regions can only be gained by playing this core mode.

The full list of playable characters in Hyrule Warriors includes: Link - Hylian Sword, Princess Zelda - Rapier, Impa - Giant Blade, Midna - Shackle, Sheik - Harp, Agitha - Parasol, Darunia - Hammer, Princess Ruto - Zora Scale, Zant - Scimitar, Fi - Goddess Blade, Ghirahim - Demon Blade, and Lana - Book of Sorcery.

As the title progresses, all the characters will gain access to more weapons to use, and the Chain Chomp will also be introduced at a certain point.

The cooperative mode for the title is designed to allow one player to focus on the TV while the other plays on the GamePad as they work together in order to take out the hordes of enemies and improve their characters.

All those who are members of Club Nintendo and register Hyrule Warriors will be able to get access to free downloadable content which include an alternate set of costumes for Ganondorf and more rewards.

Other bonuses will be linked to various retailers across North America, with more details set to be delivered in the coming weeks.

Hyrule Warriors will be launched exclusively on the Wii U in the middle of August on the Japanese market, on September 19 in Europe and one week later in North America.
