I know it's easier to copy something that is already successful then to come up with something of your own and Sony is doing just that. Apparently, they will bring some arcade classic games to their next-gen via their e-distribution system. If you go back a while go, you will realize that this thing has been already done by
Microsoft. I'm calling
Sony
a hypocrite because they previously declared, on the 1st of November to be exact, through Phil Harrison, that they have tried to push the machine technically, creatively and artistically. Mr. Harrison also attacks Microsoft by saying that the PS3 won't be restricted by "ghettoising games into a particular genre, or a particular display mechanics", and continues criticizing the Xbox for implementing retro 2D games.
OK, "Mr. Sony" let's see what classic games you have in store. I sincerely hope that you won't release something like Pong or other whatnots (Miss Pacman included). I'd like to make a list of my own: the entire Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter series, Fatal Fury, King of Fighters, Frogger, Final Fight, Animal Hunter and the list would probably go on for days.
And I'll go on again about why do they make those consoles so graphically advanced if they are going to release crappy 2D old games like these. First the Xbox, then the Wii and now the PS3...when will it end?
If we are to make a comparison between the Xbox Live and Sony's online service, the Xbox Live would win by far. It is much more complex with game downloads launching automatically, and all that other nonsense, while the PS3 online service only lists downloaded games and demos in the Game section of the Cross Media Bar.
