Hyperactive Girls Turn into Unhealthy Women

The other day we were telling you about a scientific study conducted on children and their physical activities, which showed that the more kids play, the healthier they will be when
becoming adults.

It seems that another study carried out on the same subject - physical activities of children - found the reverse effects: girls that used to be hyperactive during childhood are most likely to become women that suffer from all kinds of disorders, such as cardiovascular disease etc.

The Finish research was conducted in Helsinki by a medical team that investigated 708 adults from childhood to present time. They found that individuals that used to be hyperactive, socially isolated or school bullies when children were found to be more exposed to unhealthy habits, like smoking, and other more serious health disorders such as high blood pressure, overweight problems and even cardiovascular disease.

The same applies to kids who suffered from psychological problems and emotional states, such as lack of confidence in themselves, low self esteem or simply did not highly interact with the others and did not develop a social behavior.

Also, the study proved that the hyperactivity rule applies both to boys and girls, but girls need not be hyperactive. The research showed that even girls that used to be more active than other infants were very likely to develop cardiovascular impairments.

The medical team claims that the main factor that leads to all these future symptoms might actually be represented by the stress active and hyperactive infants were living under, by always being told not to be so noisy, not to be so restless, not to this and not to do that.

Dr. Liisa Keltikangas-Jarvinen, psychology researcher at the University in Helsinki and study leader stated: "We were hoping that life would not be that deterministic." However, infants who had "a tendency towards negative mood, low self-control and aggressive outbursts" were more likely to develop clogged arteries or other cardiovascular disorders in adulthood than those who used to be moderately active and also had a social behavior.
