Without a doubt, the USB 3.0 SuperSpeed standard is becoming more and more popular these days, and since very few notebooks come equipped with such high-speed connectivity ports, the people over at RunCore have decided to come up with a solution that enables even older portable system to achieve such impressive data transfer rates.

So, as Ubergizmo informs us, the company, best-known for manufacturing industrial and consumer-grade SSD (solid-state drive) storage solutions, has introduced a new USB 3.0 ExpressCard adapter, that will grant users access to two USB 3.0 ports, enabling them to enjoy the very high data transfer rates enabled by the SuperSpeed standard (up to 5Gbit/sec, depending on specific conditions).

However, that's not the only interesting feature the device from RunCore has in store, given the fact that the company has also added a little extra to the mix.

So, since they're experts in the field of SSDs, their new hybrid solution also features a built-in 64GB SSD unit, offering sequential read and write speeds of 110MB/s and 80MB/s, that are some pretty OK values, all things considered.

Practically, the solution from RunCore not only enables faster data-transfer rates, but also lets users boost up their notebook's storage capabilities, that, in the case of older models, is quite a good idea.

Plus, by adding the SSD to the ExpressCard slot, one can even go as far as installing the OS directly on this storage unit, meaning that the overall functioning speed of the portable computing system will also be increased.

Unfortunately, RunCore's not provided any pricing details for its hybrid ExpressCard solution, while availability has also been kept a secret for the time being, but we're certainly looking forward to seeing this product arrive on the market, given the level of innovation it provides and the fact that many owners of older notebooks could seriously benefit from the features this thing has in store.
