Hush is the world’s first smart earplug piece

In today’s crowded world it’s becoming increasingly difficult to find your peace and quiet. Everywhere you turn, somebody is doing something all the time, and not even the comfort of night seems to be enough to hush the world’s voice to a whisper.

The creators of the Kickstarter project we are going to talk about in what follows want to help you get the sleep you need, anywhere, anytime. They think you should be able to fall asleep anywhere, regardless of the noise around you, be it in an airport or at home while your teenage son is playing the guitar in the next room.

Hush wants to give you all the peace and quiet in the world

So they created Hush, which is basically the world’s first smart earplug that has been designed to keep noise levels at bay, while keeping you connected to what actually matters.

Hush is small, portable, practical and can disconnect you from the real world when you need it. It is based on sound-eliminating foam in order to keep noise levels at bay.

However, given that we all have our responsibilities and sometimes can’t afford the luxury of a full nap, Hush will connect to your smartphone, so that you’ll be awaken in case you are needed somewhere.

What are the scenarios when you might need Hush, you might wonder. For example, when you travel by plane and you have to rest ahead of an important meeting, or maybe if you’re a student living with a room-mate who has the opposite schedule you have.

Hush might be useful for couples as well. Research has shown that one in four American couples have taken to sleep in separate bedrooms because of snoring, a pattern that can negatively impact the relationship.

The team behind Hush says it has been testing the earplug in hundreds designs and shapes in order to find the ideal structure to accommodate into the human ear.

The earplug pairs with your smartphone via Bluetooth Low Energy and can stay connected to your handset and play sounds for up to 10 hours.

To help sooth you so that you can fall sleep, Hush can play the following sounds: white noise, brown noise, pink noise, ocean waves, rainfall, fan, crackling fire, babbling brook, waterfall and thunderstorm.

But wait, there’s more. Hush can also play binaural beats. This means you will hear a certain pitch in one year and a slighter higher pitch in the other ear. Your brain will then interpret the difference to push certain states, making you feel relaxed or alert.

Hush hopes to become a real product soon

The team also offers a Hush Case, a small and light box, so users can recharge Hush on the go. You can’t currently purchase Hush because the earplug is now gathering up funds on Kickstarter and everything seems to be going quite well.

If you like the idea, you can go on to the project’s page and pledge $99 / €78, which will get you a pair of Hush plus a charging case and 3 packs of foam tips.
