Phototrade is announcing that The Aperture Nature Photography Workshops at Olympic, Tetons, Yosemite and Yellowstone National Parks will take four groups of professional and amateur photographers to “America's most scenic destinations,” to (what else?) take some crisp photos of the beautiful surroundings. Alongside professional photographers, amateurs will learn how to get the most out of Apple's photography software, Aperture.

“Beginning in September 24-27, 2008, a group of four professional photographers will be joined by four amateur photographers at Grand Tetons National Park for unparalleled photo opportunities, followed by first-hand instruction in Apple Aperture by a team of Apple-certified Aperture trainers,” Phototrade reveals. “Our amateurs are going to be paired up with some of the greatest nature photographers in the country. This offers a very rare one-on-one learning experience that offers them a chance to see how the pros really do it.”

Interested? If so, here's what you have to do. First of all, the rules say that each participant may submit one and only one photograph in total. This is just the first step. Also, images must be digitally uploaded. Submissions have opened on August 15 at noon, PST, and scheduled to close on September 5, 2008 at 5:00 PM, PST, which means that you have just a little over three days to still join in. You can register for free and upload your images at the Photrade ANPW contest page, here. Note that, should you win the contest, you will need to be available to attend a workshop at Grand Tetons National Park in Jackson Hole, WY, September 24-27, 2008.

Moving on to what you’re to expect, provided that your picture gets picked, you will be working alongside established professionals who will teach you how the pros approach, pre-visualize, compose, expose and shoot each image, in each location you guys settle for a bit. Each photographer, professional and amateur, will spend time in the field shooting, as well as in the classroom using Aperture to sort, keyword, rate, edit and share their work.

“Our marketing partners will provide special thank you gifts to each photographer,” Phototrade mentions. “The collective works of the photographers involved will be included in a new book published by Peachpit Press, with some proceeds going to a photographic charity.”

Each photographer on the trip will receive a copy of Aperture 2.1, a free Lensbaby lens, $500 worth of photography-related books from Peachpit Press, a free Drobo from Data Robotics, a free Rotation 360 backpack from ThinkTank Photo, a free one-year Premium subscription to the lynda.com training library from lynda.com, and This Week in Photography (TWIP) sponsorship.
