The US National Hurricane Center (NHC) says that Hurricane Michael is currently weakening in the Atlantic Ocean, and that no warnings are in effect. Currently cataloged as a Category 1 hurricane, the tropical storm is heading northwest.

The image above was snapped by the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) instrument on the NASA Terra satellite, on September 9. At that time, the storm was located about 955 miles (1,535 kilometers) west-southwest of the Azores.

At that time, it featured the distinct eye and spiral shape common to hurricanes, and boasted winds of up to 90 miles (150 kilometers) per hour. Still, these values were lower than what experts recorded by September 7.

On September 10, Hurricane Michael's top winds subsided to just 80 miles (130 kilometers) per hour.
