Kingston seems to be on quit a roll these days because, after unveiling those impressive HyperX Black memory kits yesterday, it's now back with a very interesting offering the owners of notebooks powered by the Intel “Huron River” CPUs.

Without a doubt, the number of users who actually upgrade their notebook's memory modules is rather limited, especially when talking about latest-generation products, built around the new 2nd Generation Intel Core Mobile Processor Family, codenamed ‘Huron River.’

Plus, most notebook manufacturers equip their products with plenty of memory right out of the factory (or at least offer users the option to boost their available memory before purchasing the portable computing system).

However, that's not stopped Kingston from unveiling the new HyperX 4GB and 8GB 1600MHz SO-DIMM kits, that those customers who're just waiting to tinker with their notebooks will certainly be quite interested in, especially since the company claims that they're fastest around, especially when paired with the aforementioned mobile CPUs from Intel.

Furthermore, beside being designed to work with the mobile Sandy Bridge notebooks, the 2-stick DDR3 kits (CL9-9-9-27, 1.5v) will also work quit well with all sorts of mini-ITX motherboards, meaning that we might actually find them implemented in other types of system as well, such as HTPCs, for example.

“Our latest HyperX SO-DIMMs are the best way to boost the system performance of notebook PCs, as well as mini-ITX motherboards and mobile-based systems, by replacing standard memory with high-speed, higher capacity modules,” said Mark Tekunoff, senior technology manager, Kingston, adding that “with the simple plug and play feature, system performance is enhanced fast and effortlessly as the memory profiles are preset to run automatically.”

Pricing for the new memory kits is actually quite fair, given the level of performance they enable on Huron River platforms the 4GB pack selling for just US$67.00, while the 8GB version is slightly more expensive, retailing for 122.00 US dollars.
