Riots have rocked the town of Huntington Beach in Orange County after the end of the Vans Open of Surfing on Sunday, July 27.

Several incidents of vandalism have been reported, as I have already documented. I would have to say that surfing competitions fans are much quieter than soccer aficionados, for example.

All they have really done is tear down newsstands, break windows, and try to tip over portable toilets.

They also threw chairs around, put down street signs, and jumped on cars in downtown Huntington Beach. A scene in which they jump on porta-potties and try to overturn them has been caught on video.

Eight people have been arrested for unruly behavior and refusing to put an end to the riot. Police trying to stop mobs were met with bottles thrown at them, but no injuries were reported.
