Around 400 sites have been defaced in protest against corrupt governments

Anonymous hacker AnonGhost has breached and defaced around 400 commercial websites from Australia, Switzerland, Chile, and a few other countries.

The hacker has defaced 140 websites from Australia, 180 sites from Switzerland, 68 websites from Chile and around a dozen from other countries.

Judging by the message posted on the affected websites, the attacks are part of an anti-government protest.

“To all governments of the world, we can see what you’re doing, we control you, we are everywhere,” the hacker said.

“Together we stand against the injustice of corrupt governments. We are Anonymous. We are Legion. United as one. Divided by zero. We do not forgive the injustice. We do not forget oppression,” he added.

At the time of writing, most of the sites were still defaced, but some of them had already been restored by their owners.

It's interesting to note that many hacktivist groups deface the websites owned by innocent individuals, or businesses that have nothing to do with corrupt governments, as a form of protest. I am inclined to place such hacks in this category.
