Spain's province of Lleida has recently been discovered to be the home of several hundred dinosaur egg fossils that were uncovered by scientists working at the Coll de Nargó site.

Prior to these dinosaur egg fossils' being discovered, it was believed that these regions used to be inhabited by just one species of dinosaurs.

However, the fact that these eggs appear to come from several different species (at least five, to be more precise) forced the researchers to reconsider their previous assumptions concerning the area's past biodiversity. Christian Post quotes Albert García Sellés, a specialist now working with the Miquel Crusafont Catalan Paleontology Institute, who allegedly told members of the press that, “Eggshells, eggs and nests were found in abundance and they all belong to dinosaurs, sauropods in particular.”

“In addition, the presence of various oospecies (eggs species) at the same level suggests that different types of dinosaurs shared the same nesting area,” Albert García Sellés went on to argue.

Data collected while analyzing these dinosaur egg fossils suggests that the site where they have been found dates back to about 71-67 million years ago.
