A new version of Hulu Plus is now available for download for the owners of devices running under Google's Android operating system, namely Hulu Plus 1.0.139.

The new application version brings along support for even more handsets than before, and also offers improvements for the video playback.

The Hulu Plus application is available for download for handsets running under Android 2.2 or newer but, even after this update, there still are only a small number of devices supported.

The release notes for the new flavor of Hulu Plus include:

- Improved playback performance - Added support for 8 additional handsets: HTC Incredible 2, HTC Evo 3D, HTC Sensation, Motorola Droid 3, Motorola Bionic, Motorola X2, LG Revolution, LG G2X - Added support for 1 additional tablet: HTC Flyer.

Initially, the application and the video streaming service arrived only on a small number of Android devices, but the list is now a bit longer, and is expected to grow even more soon.

After all, the rival service Netflix has just announced that they are offering support for all mobile phones that run under Android 2.2 or newer, which expanded its reach to the vast majority of Android users out there.

The Hulu Plus mobile software was made available for download for free, and can be downloaded via the Android Market here. However, the service that will bring videos, movies and shows to users requires a free of $7.99 (around 5.82 Euros) per month.

For this kind of money, users will be able to access a large variety of movies straight from their devices, along with TV shows and more.

“Stream thousands of episodes from hundreds of current and classic TV shows and movies to your Android device, computer, TV, and other devices with a Hulu Plus subscription. Download the app now to sample content from our Free Gallery,” the company notes.
