Users of mobile phones running under Google's Android operating system should soon be able to enjoy a new service on their devices, namely Hulu Plus.

Hulu is one of the services that many Android users have been long waiting for to arrive on their devices, and it seems that they might soon have a reason to rejoice.

After announcing during the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas in early 2011 that it would bring the services to Android, the company is stating on its website that this would happen soon.

The popular video-on-demand streaming service is expected to make it to select Android 2.2 devices in the near future, the company says.

However, the company has a photo of the Samsung Nexus S posted on its website, which suggests that the service might actually be released for more handsets.

The Nexus S runs under the Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system, and there is a possibility that the company would bring the service to all smartphones based on Android 2.2 or higher platform versions.

Of course, it remains to be seen which devices would actually receive Hulu, since it was suggested that only handsets with DRM included into their hardware might receive it.

With Netflix rumored to be on its way to Android in early 2011, and already spotted on Verizon's LG Revolution, Hulu might be released on Google's platform in the very near future.

During the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Qualcomm and Netflix announced that Android devices powered by the Snapdragon processor would include streaming of TV shows and movies from Netflix.

The Hulu Plus service is already available on a range of connected TVs and Blu-ray players, gaming consoles, set-top boxes, mobile phones, and more, as the company notes on its website.

With the release of Hulu on Android, the company would further expand its availability on mobile phones, offering more users the possibility to easily access favorite shows and more.
