There is this theory circulating in the fabulous circles in Tinseltown that, once you are a celebrity couple and you start shooting your own reality show, in which you invite the camera crews into your home and allow them to see (almost) every little thing that you do in your own personal time, there is only one direction your heading to: divorce.
This theory, of course, has never been scientifically proven so we can only base our words on speculations and other power couples who called it quits because, they say, of a reality series: Carmen Electra and Dave Navarro ("Till Death Do Us Part") and Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey ('Newlyweds') being the most adequate examples in this sense. The phenomenon has been referred to by many as 'the MTV curse' because the majority of the celebs who had marriage issues because of the overexposure a reality show implies were signed by the music network.
Rumor has it that the latest couple to fall victim to the curse is the one formed by veteran wrestler Hulk Hogan and his fashion-blind wife of over 20 years, Linda. While in front of the camera, these two come off as the perfect example of marital bliss, sources close to them are telling an entirely different story: they are no longer seeing an eye to eye and they are already talking divorce.
Apparently, the apple of discontent among the two is the fact that they have different opinions on how their two children should be educated. This is not something new since viewers had the chance to see, from the very first episodes of VH1's 'Hogan Knows Best' that Hulk and Linda's opinions were divergent when it came to the best interest of Brooke (an aspiring pop singer) and Nick (amateur race-car driver). One source tells the US tabloids that 'they're going through a very hard time and their marriage is under a lot of strain. They have different beliefs on how to raise the kids. Brooke started her music career, and they started getting into fights'.
According to the same source, at one point, Linda even quit the show but she was later convinced to come back for the fourth season. For those who are not in the know, the series meant a boost of Hogan's career (one can't actually call it a comeback since reality shows are not exactly what he did for a living before), so it would be in the best of all of them if the show continued to be successful.
However, Jimmy Hart, Hogan's wrestling manager says there's nothing wrong in Hulk paradise: 'There's ups and downs in every marriage. I was with them last weekend in Miami shooting the show and everything seemed fine'. Well, it better be! Stay tuned for more.
