Wrestler Hulk Hogan is as famous for his signature move in the ring (when he rips off his shirt) as he’s for his blonde mane and bandana. As far as his hair is concerned, there are some things that are different about Hulk these days, and we’re not talking his receding hairline either. Hulk Hogan is wearing extensions, as he admits in a recent interview cited by StarPulse.

According to Hulk himself, until he got divorced from his wife, Linda, it was she who did maintenance work on his hair, meaning applied bleach and dye whenever roots started showing. Either his new girlfriend, who is also peroxide blonde, doesn’t know her way around the can of bleach or Hulk wanted to see if he was up to the challenge without help from someone else, but one day, he decided it was time he took matter into his own hands. The results were catastrophic, as he puts it.

“Celebrity wrestler Hulk Hogan has been wearing hair extensions since his split from ex-wife Linda, after melting off his iconic blond mane in a dyeing mishap. The star, real name Terry Bollea, relied on his former partner to color his locks before their divorce last year. After the split, Hogan tried the beauty treatment on his own – but he left the dye on too long and the bleach caused permanent damage,” StarPulse writes of the dye incident which cost Hulk his trademark hairdo.

“When I was married back in the day Linda would do my hair – I never paid attention. When she filed for divorce and I was on my own and the roots grew out, I went to my local drug store and bought the hair [dye] and put in on. I didn’t know you weren’t supposed to put it on the scalp. I kind of rubbed it through [my hair] and then the phone rang. It [the dye] was on for an hour... [Then] I’m in the shower and it [my hair] all goes down there [the drain],” Hulk describes the incident.

As we were also telling you almost a year ago, specialists are constantly warning women and men alike of the dangers of DIY beauty kits, which can sometimes lead to serious injuries like burns, loss of hair and even severe allergic reactions. Hulk Hogan’s example would seem to confirm what they’ve been saying all along, namely that if you haven’t done it before, better leave it to a pro.
