Judging by the war of words they engaged in in the media at the time, you’d be justified to think that neither Hulk Hogan nor his ex-wife Linda Hogan was actually sorry that their marriage fell apart, because they were too bitter. In a new interview, Hulk reveals that the exact opposite happened.

The wrestling legend sat down for an interview with Oprah Winfrey’s The Next Chapter and, among other things, he revealed that, as his marriage fell apart, he was having such a hard time coping that he actually thought suicide was the easy way out.

Fans probably remember that, also then, Hulk was having more on his plate than just marital problems, as his son Nick had been involved in a car accident that ended with his best friend in a hospital in a vegetative state.

“After the show I kinda hit rock bottom. Everything got dark, everything happened at once,” Hulk tells Oprah, getting almost teary-eyed. Because he thought he would not be able to deal with everything, he turned to booze to numb the pain away.

“I was drinking alcohol very heavily. It just all kept piling up, it all kept mounting and mounting I didn't know how to handle it,” he says.

As you might imagine, the alcohol didn’t help. It never does, particularly in such situations, when the problem doesn’t just go away on its own.

“I always wondered how could someone possibly take their own life, and so I got to that point where I said, ‘You know what, maybe this would be easy. You know, maybe this would be an easy way to fix things’,” the star says.

Luckily, he managed to turn his life around and move on from the failed marriage, though it wasn’t before the two spat each other some more in the tabloids.

Hulk is now married and, as far as we know, he and Linda are at least civil towards each other these days.
