Ever since director Bryan Singer announced that Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart would return to the “X-Men” sequel “Days of Future Past,” there’s been a lot of speculation on whether Hugh Jackman too will reprise his original role.

As fans must know, Jackman shot a brief cameo for “First Class,” though it represented more of a nod to the mythology than Wolverine’s inclusion into the story.

Now, The Hollywood Reporter is saying that Singer and the movie studio are in talks with the actor to see if he would be game to reprise the part.

Considering he’s now shooting for the “Wolverine” sequel, “The Wolverine,” a movie he said he’d been dying to make, I can only imagine he would not put up much of a fight to agree to walk in the character’s shoes again.

“Sources confirm that Hugh Jackman is in negotiations to reprise his Wolverine role in the movie, which is ostensibly a sequel to X-Men: First Class but will prominently feature actors from the first X-Men trilogy (the first two of which Singer directed),” THR writes.

“X-Men: Days of Future Past” will also see the cast of “First Class” returning: James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence and Nicholas Hoult. Stewart and McKellen will play older versions of McAvoy and Fassbender, as fans must have already realized.
