It was a great experience, the actor says

Movie-based games are becoming something quite normal for Hollywood and the gaming industry to make, as they guarantee big profit because of the popularity that the flicks usually enjoy. One of the most recent examples is the X-Men Origins: Wolverine title, which, courtesy of Activision, has appeared on almost all of the video game platforms currently on the market.

Trying to base itself on the movie and on the rich history of the famous mutant Wolverine, the game has even surpassed the movie in great part thanks to its solid gameplay mechanics and the top-notch voice acting from actor Hugh Jackman, which plays the Canadian anti-hero in the movies.

He recently talked with Yahoo Games about his involvement with the team at Raven Software, which was in charge of the development of the title, and revealed that the lines in the voice work were so good that he pushed for them to appear in the movie. He also stated that the game was a great way to expand things that weren't given a lot of attention in the motion picture, which was great for true fans of Wolverine.

“There was no motion-capture but I did a lot of voiceover. I did more voiceover for this than I’ve ever done before. The story line follows, very vaguely, the movie storyline, but it actually goes beyond that as well. I wanted the videogame to be as true to the character as I could, for the movie, and make it an experience that I think fans wanted. I was able to bring some of the lines of dialogue from the game script into the movie, because I liked how well it was written. A game is much longer than a movie – it allows you to develop subplots and characters in a way that there isn’t time for in the film. The game expands on certain episodes in the film. I don’t want to give away any spoilers, but there are some sequences that the movie only touches on, which the game explores much more in-depth.”

It's certainly quite nice to see that the famous Hollywood actor enjoyed starring in this title and really managed to make the character of Wolverine that much more authentic in the video game. Hopefully more and more actors will be impressed with the gaming industry in the future.
