Despite reports that Hugh Jackman had already been offered $100 million (€72.8 million) for 4 new standalone Wolverine movies and he’d accepted, the actor himself is taking the time to dispel these rumors and, in the process, to break fans’ hearts.

In August, word got out that 20th Century Fox had Jackman locked for 4 new movies with Wolverine, which seemed only the next logical step after the success of this year’s “The Wolverine.”

However, who came up with that figure was way off base, Jackman says in a new interview cited by SuperheroHype, because there’s a high chance he might not reprise the role ever again – at least, not in a standalone pic.

“I don’t know whether or not I will do this next movie. I am really proud of (The Wolverine) and I am excited to develop something with Jim Mangold from the beginning because that is a great ride,” the Australian actor explains.

At the end of the day, it’s all up to the how good the script for the next movie is. If it’s a solid one, he’ll do it.

“That’s exciting, to see what we come up with but I have a very high expectation of what it would need to be [for me to star in it] and if it doesn’t reach those, I won’t be doing it,” Jackman explains.
