The Uncharted movie is pretty much on track it seems, and the developers are already thinking about the right leading man to portray Nathan Drake, the lovable yet slightly immoral main character of the two videogames released until now.
And it appears that the producers have their sight set on Hugh Jackman, the in demand actor who has also portrayed another protagonist that starred in the videogame Wolverine.
Nolan North, the guy who lends his voice to the main character of the
Uncharted series and has a certain physical resemblance to the adventurer, said in the podcast of the Official PlayStation Magazine in the United Kingdom that “Jackman is who I'd like to see. I think the producers would like to see Jackman too, because he has that tough guy exterior, but [...] there's also a lot going on behind his eyes. A lot of emotion and sensitivity on that brusque exterior, and he has great comic timing. He's a phenomenal actor. I just hope I get a part on the movie so I can work with Hugh.”
Even if Nolan North is highly lauded for his voice work as Nathan Drake, the fact that Uncharted: The Movie is likely to be a big budget title with huge ambitions demands that a star takes the main role.
Uncharted 2: Among Thieves,
which we've recently reviewed, is one of the biggest titles of the year and sure to bring the PlayStation 3 some great sales numbers. The videogame is highly cinematic, with non-stop adrenalin action delivered via great visuals, with a lot of attention to detail and with fluid combat and movement. Any movie that aims to replicate this experience will need to have some great stunt sequences and the audacity to film in some tough-to-reach locations.
