Hugh Jackman wants Wolverine to move up into the superhero world after making history in the X-Men franchise, the Australian actor has his eyes firmly set on one of the most famous comic book franchises in the world – The Avengers.

The 45-year-old actor has spoken with IGN and has confessed that he has a dream for his character Wolverine he's been portraying on screen for well over a decade. He would love Wolverine to join The Avengers. “I would love to see him as part of The Avengers. Because there's a great dysfunction among that team, and I think Wolverine would fit right into that. He'd like that,” Jackman has pointed out.

Hugh has also proved his deep knowledge of superhero unwritten rules, which mention that, when two superheroes meet up for the first time, they have to do battle, and he has hinted that out of the whole Avengers line-up he would love to fight The Hulk.

“There's no doubt he'd get in a fight with Hulk at some point. Those two bad, rage-filled characters are going to square off at some point. It would be quite fun. I don't know how much fun to shoot it because I'm sure I'd be on the worst end of it, but hey, he can heal,” Hugh jokes.

The actor also claims that he would like to go toe to toe with Tony Stark's banter, which has appeared in the Iron Man franchise, as well as in The Avengers and caused numerous hilarious moments. Hugh thinks it will be fun to see how Wolverine responds to Tony's constant ironic jabs.

To us, this all sounds very appealing and also like the premise of a great movie, so let's hope that the right people are listening and taking notes because Hugh actually makes a valid point out of his over-the-top battles.

Most recently, Hugh has announced that he will be stepping out of his role of Wolverine, but not until he'd done three more movies. The actor claims that he is getting on in age and that he wants to clear the scene for some younger talent. While some fans don't agree with his point of view, they will still be thrilled to see their favorite mutant duke out in the latest X-Men film “Days of Future Past.”

What do you guys think? Should the two most successful superhero franchises in film today, X-Men and The Avengers, merge for one all-star production or will that be too much action for the public to handle? Also, where do you place your money in a battle between Hulk and Wolverine?
