Hugh Jackman is not only the nicest guy in Hollywood, but he also has a reputation for one of the most endearing family guys in showbiz. Hearing him speak of how he and wife Deborra-Lee Furness came to the painful realization that they couldn’t have children naturally confirms that.

He’s repeatedly been honored with the distinction of the hottest man alive, but being a husband and a father is what really matters for this actor.

In a new interview cited by the Daily Mail, Hugh opens up about how he and Deborra decided it was time to stop trying for a baby naturally and just adopt.

The couple have two children now, Oscar, who is 11, and Ava, 6.

“It was painful. It’s not easy. You put a lot of time and effort into it, so it’s emotional,” the actor says about realizing that the only way they could have a family was by adoption.

“I think any parent can relate – trying to have children is wonderful and when you feel as though that’s not going to happen, there’s a certain anxiety that goes with it,” he adds.

Adoption was always in the cards for them, Hugh further explains, but he and his wife always assumed they’d have children naturally before filing the papers for adoption.

“We thought we’d have a kid or two biologically and then adopt. But when we decided we’d had enough of IVF, we went ahead with adoption,” he explains.

Today, he doesn’t think of his children as adopted, but as his own because he’s convinced that things worked out exactly the way they were supposed to, Hugh goes on to say.

“I don’t think of them as adopted – they’re our children,” the actor underlines.

“Deb and I are believers in I suppose you could call it destiny. We feel things happened the way they are meant to. Obviously, biologically wasn’t the way we were meant to have children,” he says.
