The Playboy editor isn't sure though, he's lost count decades ago

What man in his right mind hasn't fantasized about being Hugh Hefner for just one day in his life? The prolific editor for the largest men's magazine in the world, and the founder of a huge media empire has been rocking the scene for more than 40 years.

Hef opened up to Esquire Magazine about his lifetime of pursuing women and some of his latest conquests. To the obvious question of how many women he's actually bedded through the years, he replies “How could I possibly know? Over a thousand, I’m sure.”

The 87-year-old holds two Guinness World Records, but neither of them is for his success with women. He holds one as the longest serving editor in chief of a magazine and another for having the world's largest collection of scrapbooks.

But despite this jaw-dropping number, Hef is at the moment still very much in love with Crystal Harris, a 27-year-old he married in December 2012, on New Year's Eve, after they met in 2008 and got engaged in 2010.

For Hefner, this makes it the third time he's been married, and despite what you might think, he says he's never cheated on any of his wives during the time he was married. “There were chunks of my life when I was married. And when I was married I never cheated. But I made up for it when I wasn’t married. You have to keep your hand in,” he confesses.

He has been previously married to Mildred Williams from 1949 to 1959 and fathered two children with her, Christie, 60, and David, 57, and later, to former playmate Kimberley Conrad from 1989 to 2010. Two more children resulted from that marriage, Marston, 22, and Cooper, 21.

At the moment, Hef is on cloud number nine and when asked about his current wife, he gushes, “I just feel very, very fortunate to have found her at this stage in my life. I saved the best for last.”
