A 47-year-old woman discovered she had a gigantic tumor growing in her womb after going to the hospital and accusing weight gain, discomfort and pain in her stomach. The Spanish surgeons were shocked at the sight of one of the biggest tumors they've ever seen.

The Torrevieja Hospital doctors removed a benign mass measuring 17-inches (41 cm) and weighting almost 55 pounds (25 kg) from a woman's womb. This type of tumor is very rare, and in order to remove all of it, the doctors inevitably had to extract the patient's ovaries and fallopian tubes as well.

The immense mass was causing bowel problems, difficulty sleeping, breathing deficiencies, a huge amount of discomfort and looked as if the woman was 9-months pregnant. According to Daily Mail, the tumor stretched all the way from the woman's pubic bone to her sternum and only five similar cases were reported by medical literature until now.

The surgery was a success, doctors managing to remove the entire growth in just two hours. The patient made a full recovery and is now having regular visits and examinations to make sure the tumor is not returning. For the Spanish doctors, it was the first time dealing with such a gigantic benign mass, carrying several tests prior to the surgery.

The Spanish woman can somehow consider herself lucky having the immense mass removed successfully, other similar cases were reported and some of the worst ones involved face tumors as big as 44 pounds (20 kg) that messed up the patients’ whole facial features. Other similar cases included a 33 pounds (15 kg) neck lump or a 154 pounds (70kg) leg growth.

An 8-year-old girl from China suffered from a weird tumor growing in her underlip and the cost of the removal surgery were so big that the child's poor parents had no other solution than to make peace with the fact that the mass won't be removed.
