Apple’s Special Deals ‘shelves’ have been quite overpopulated lately with numerous sub-$1,000 offers. Prices range between $599, for old-generation Mac minis, to $999 for the more powerful MacBooks and iMacs.

The latest offer that caught our eye is a $759 white polycarbonate MacBook originally released in 2009 with an Intel Core 2 Duo processor clocked at 2.26 GHz, 2GB of memory, 250GB of storage, NVIDIA GeForce 9400M graphics and Apple’s build-in seven-hour battery.

Although almost two years old, this is the unibody MacBook model with a 13.3-inch display - the last non-Pro MacBook still sold by Apple. The discount is $190 Apple says. It is believed that the white MacBook will soon be discontinued.

Priced a tad higher - $849, there’s a 2.4GHz model launched in May 2010 packing NVIDIA GeForce 320M graphics with 256MB of DDR3 SDRAM shared with main memory.

A great opportunity to save $200 on a more powerful notebook is this $899 refurbished MacBook Pro running at 2.4GHz (also Intel Core 2 Duo).

This system has 4 gigs of RAM, NVIDIA GeForce 320M graphics, and the same 13.3-inch LED-backlit glossy widescreen display.

It’s only priced higher than the polycarbonate MacBook because it boasts 2 extra gigs of RAM and has an aluminum unibody enclosure, which effectively makes it a Pro.

Apple fans looking to put something on their desktop are being offered a refurbished iMac with 21.5-inches of backlit glossy widescreen goodness and a 3.06GHz Intel Core i3 processor.

Priced at just $929 ($170 savings), this iMac was released July 2010 and features 4GB of memory, a 500GB hard drive, ATI Radeon HD 4670 graphics with 256MB memory, and a built-in iSight camera.

All these computers are relatively old and do not have Thunderbolt I/O or the new Intel Sandy Bridge CPU architecture, but you can bet they’ll all be able to run OS X Lion smoothly.

These offers, and many others like them (including MacBook Airs, and MacBook Minis) can be found here.
