Another news portal's Twitter account was taken over

Followers of the popular news portal Huffington Post may have seen some blasphemous tweets that were advertising the New York Post on their official Twitter feed. It seems as a hacker managed to take over their Twitter account and post some messages that can’t be reproduced.

After learning of the breach, Huffington Post representatives acted immediately and removed the posts written by the hacker, notifying readers that they’re working on handling the incident.

“Sorry about that, Twitterverse! We know we've been hacked and are working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible,” they wrote on Twitter.

At the time of writing everything is back to normal, the only traces of the hack being found in the timelines of those who re-tweeted the hacker.

This is not the first time when a Twitter account with many followers is taken over. Fox News, NBC News and, more recently, Ashton Kutcher have fallen victims to such hacking operations.
