Huawei’s Executive Vp Eric Xu has recently revealed that the Chinese telecoms giant is no longer focusing on the US market because of the numerous difficulties they’ve encountered over the past period. One of the countries that the company is currently focusing on is New Zealand.

After talking to New Zealand’s Communications Minister Amy Adams, Huawei’s founder and CEO, Ren Zhengfei, stated for the media that cybersecurity was a top priority for his company.

“Cybersecurity is a significant challenge facing our industry globally today. The solution must involve governments, telecommunications operators and ICT companies, including Huawei and our peers, as well as end users coming together to take collaborative, solutions-oriented, multi-lateral approaches to mitigate the risk,” Ren said, cited by the Xinhua News Agency.

In regard to the recent accusations made by US officials, Huawei’s boss explained that his company’s equipment is almost non-existent in the networks of major carriers or government agencies from the US..

“Huawei has no connection to the cyber security issues the US has encountered in the past, current and future,” Ren added.

This is the first time when Huawei’s CEO gives an interview to the press.
