Huawei U550 is just one of the three mobile phones that this company has released recently at this year's edition of CommunicAsia. This clamshell is probably the most interesting of all, as it features an appealing, futuristic design which will definitely make it stand out from the line of similar models.

The producers consider Huawei U550 to be an "ultra slim" phone model, even though at its 17.5 mm size in thickness it will fail in breaking any world record. What it does have is an appealing design, with black case and easy access display and red backlight. The combination of colors makes it look like a high-tech phone especially in full black version.

This clamshell works in GSM networks and is capable of quite high performances. Huawei U550 is actually a 3G and HSDPA enabled handset, which will make it excellent for reaching top data transfer speeds. The 2 inch 262k color display is quite evolved for a flip phone, even though the vertical resolution might be a bit uncomfortable for best viewing capabilities.

Connectivity is available through Bluetooth and USB 2.0, a feature common on most evolved phone models. The internal memory is of 64 MB, but can also be increased through a microSD memory expansion slot.

Huawei U550 comes with touch-sensitive buttons which allow easy navigation. One useful feature is that the user can listen to a wide range of audio music file formats without having to open the flip phone. Moreover, this handset can be used as a high-speed modem when connected to a PC or laptop.

Huawei U550 is actually an entry-level handset, which means that it will come for a price under USD 100. That is fairly accessible for what Huawei U550 has to offer and should succeed in reaching high sales rates.
